Lap Race
Go round first. Land on your rival to send them back to START. Single race to 3 laps.
Lap Race is a two-player dice racing game in which each counter goes clockwise round a track and earns a lap each time it passes START. Landing on your rival's square sends them back to START, and the first to 3 laps wins.
Your counter hops round a painted track and a peg drops into your board every time you pass START. The big moment is the bump: land on your rival's square and their counter spins all the way back to START, though they keep their laps.

Lap Race rules
Setup
- The track is one loop of 28 squares round the edge of the board. START sits in the middle of one side, the same distance from both ends of the table.
- Both counters start on START. Each player has a peg board for laps at their own end.
- A coin toss picks who rolls first in a fresh match. In best of 3, the loser of a race starts the next; on a rematch the previous loser starts.
- A 3-2-1 countdown starts each race.
A turn
- Tap your die and your counter moves clockwise that many squares.
- Every time your counter passes or lands on START, you peg a lap.
- After your move, the turn passes.
- With Boost arrows on (the default), ending a move on one of the two arrow squares hops you 3 more. A boost never sets off another boost.
- With Six again on, a 6 lets you roll again.
- With Pick a die on, you roll two dice and move by the one you choose. Equal dice move at once.
Bumps
- End your move exactly on your rival's square and you bump them: their counter goes back to START. They keep all their laps.
- START is safe: both counters can share it and nobody is bumped there.
- Passing over your rival does nothing, and a winning move never bumps.
Winning
- The moment you peg your last lap (3 by default), you win the race. No exact roll is needed.
- Races have no draws. In the very rare case that a race runs extremely long, the counter further round wins.
- A match is a single race by default, or best of 3.
Hints against the bot
- With Pick a die on, playing the bot outside a tournament, you can spend 20 coins on a hint when you have two dice to choose from. It rings, for two seconds, the better die and the square it lands on.
- With one die there is nothing to choose, so no hint. There are no hints against a friend or in a tournament.
Tips to win at Lap Race
- 1A bump costs your rival their position, not their laps, so it hurts most when they're close to passing START.
- 2With Pick a die on, avoid ending 1 to 6 squares ahead of your rival. That's exactly the range they can bump you from next turn.
- 3With Pick a die on, aim for the arrow squares. A boost of 3 more is often worth more than the bigger die.
- 4START is safe. When your rival is right behind you, a die that lands you on START keeps you out of reach.
Controls
Phone flat between you. Each player owns a half, and the far half faces the far player.
- Your die sits in your own dock at your end of the phone. Tap it to roll; your counter breathes inside a ring while it's your turn.
- With Pick a die on, one tap rolls both dice. Then tap a die in your dock, a big die in the middle, or its target square on the track.
- Your dock shows how many squares you have left to START, and your peg board shows your laps.
- The phone lies flat between you, with Blue's dock and peg row facing Blue.

Play Lap Race against the bot
The bot plays Blue and rolls its own die from the same dice as you, never seeing the next roll. In the standard race there is nothing to decide, so you play a single Bot with no levels. Turn Pick a die on and you can choose Easy, Normal or Hard, which differ in which die they move.
Easy
With Pick a die on, picks at random half the time and often misses a bump.
Normal
With Pick a die on, moves the die that gains the most ground or bumps you, but now and then moves the smaller one.
Hard
With Pick a die on, always takes a winning die and avoids parking just ahead of you, where you could bump it next turn.
