Lucky Lane
Roll and drive. Road signs push you on, send you back or dare you to risk it. Single race.
Lucky Lane is a two-player dice race along a painted road, where you tap your die to drive your car and the sign you stop on acts, sending you on, back, or swapping places. The first car to the flag wins.
Your toy car hops square by square along a painted road and stops on a sign that flips: drive on 3, back to START, or swap places with the leader. Risk squares ask one question: stay put, or roll again and see where it takes you.

- 2Stop on a sign and it acts: drive on, drive back, roll again, miss a turn, back to START or swap.

- 5First car to the flag wins.
Lucky Lane rules
Setup
- Each player has their own road from their own START pad to one shared FINISH flag in the middle. The two roads are the same road turned around, so every sign is the same distance from each START.
- The Classic road is 17 squares long; Short is 12 and Long is 22.
- A coin toss picks who rolls first in a fresh match; on a rematch the previous loser starts. One 3-2-1 countdown starts the race.
A turn
- Tap your die and your car drives that many squares along your road.
- Reach or pass the FINISH flag and you win the race at once (with the Exact finish option, you need the exact number and extra squares bounce you back).
- Land on a sign with your roll and it acts once. Squares you pass over do nothing.
- Signs don't chain: a sign you reach because of another sign does nothing, unless it's Roll again.
- After your move and any sign, the turn passes.
The signs
- +2 and +3: drive on that many squares (this can reach the flag).
- −2 and −3: drive back that many, never past START.
- Roll again: take another roll straight away.
- Miss a turn: your next turn is skipped, so your rival rolls twice in a row.
- Back to START: your car rewinds all the way to your own START.
- Swap: you and your rival trade distances, each car jumping to the other's spot on its own road.
- Risk: choose Stay, or Risk it and roll again: 4 to 6 drives on that many squares, 1 to 3 drives back that many. Nothing is staked but squares.
- Calm roads have 4 signs, Classic 9 and Wild 12.
Shield
- With Shield on (the default), each player has one shield per race.
- When your roll lands you on a bad sign (drive back, Miss a turn, Back to START, or a Swap that would lose you ground), you can Shield it to block the sign or Take it.
- Good signs, Risk squares and signs reached by another sign never offer the shield.
Winning
- The first car to the flag wins the match. A race always has a winner; there are no draws.
- In the very rare case that a race runs extremely long, "Time up!" ends it and the car nearer the flag wins.
Hints against the bot
- Playing the bot outside a tournament, you can spend 20 coins on a hint when a Risk choice is open. It rings, for two seconds, the button with the better chance of winning the race.
- Plain rolls and the Shield choice have no hint. There are no hints against a friend or in a tournament.
Tips to win at Lucky Lane
- 1On a Risk square, rolling again gains ground on average: 4 to 6 moves you further on than 1 to 3 moves you back. Take it when you're behind.
- 2When you're well ahead, or close to the flag, Stay is often safer. There's no need to risk a lead you already have.
- 3Keep your shield for the big setbacks, like Back to START or a Swap with a car far behind, not for a −2.
- 4Swap squares favour the car that's behind. If your rival is close to the flag, a Swap is the fastest way to catch up.
Controls
Phone flat between you. Each player owns a half, and the far half faces the far player.
- Your die sits in your own dock at your end of the phone. Tap it to roll and drive.
- On a Risk square, tap the stop hand to stay or the die to risk it; dots on the road show where each roll would take you. On a bad sign with your shield ready, tap Shield or Take it.
- A plaque at your end shows the sign that matters now in a few words.
- Only the mover's dock is lit; the phone lies flat between you, with Blue's dock, tray and signs facing Blue.

Play Lucky Lane against the bot
The bot plays Blue and rolls its own die from the same dice as you, never seeing the next roll. The rolls are luck; its levels differ in how it handles Risk squares and its shield.
Easy
Takes risks at random, even right next to the flag, and wastes its shield on small setbacks.
Normal
Usually takes the risk when it gains ground on average and shields setbacks of 3 squares or more, but spends its shield early and sometimes chooses the other way.
Hard
Plays the race out many times in its head before each Risk choice and takes the better one, and keeps its shield for the big disasters like Back to START.

Coming soon
- Online play. Play Lucky Lane against someone on another phone, with a turn clock and the server rolling the dice.
How it feels
- A rattle and a clack as your die rolls, and a tick for every square your car hops.
- A card-flip whoosh as a sign turns over with a ring of light.
- A tape-rewind as a car zips back to START, a crossing whoosh on a Swap and a metal clang for "Shield!".
- A fanfare as the flag waves and the winning car spins.
Accessibility
- Signs differ by drawn icon and plate, never by colour alone, and the Risk and Shield buttons are icons, not words.
- Cars are told apart by their own road and START pad as well as colour.
- The screen reader reads rolls and choices, for example "Red rolled 4, Risk square: Stay or Risk it".
- With reduce motion on, signs don't flip and cars slide instead of hopping, but every change still shows.
- There is no clock on a turn against a friend or the bot.
